Amy Ratcliffe

It's never "just a story."

Think about all the stories you've read, or watched, or maybe played. They leave a mark.

Short Bio (use for podcasts and media)

Amy Ratcliffe didn't figure out what she wanted to be when she grew up until she was a grown up and started writing. Thrill Ride is her debut adult novel, and she's written several Star Wars and Marvel books, including Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy and Hulk Not Smash. She's spent maybe too much time playing at theme parks and reporting on them. Please do not make her ride a roller coaster. Born and raised in a small town in Ohio, Amy now lives in Asheville, North Carolina with her husband and cats. When she's not writing, she's birding, reading, or eating a sandwich in nature.

long bio

Amy Ratcliffe is the author of the upcoming Thrill Ride, an adult rom-com set in a small town theme park, coming from Kensington Books on March 25, 2025.

She also wrote Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy, The Jedi Mind, A Kid’s Guide to Fandom, The Art of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Star Wars: Elee & Me, Star Wars: Battles That Changed the Galaxy, The Art of God of War Ragnarök, The Art of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Marvel Studios The Marvel Cinematic Universe An Official Timeline, Hulk Not Smash, Star Wars Encyclopedia, The Art of Star Wars Visions Volume 2, and Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy, Updated and Expanded. She contributed a story to From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back. She was a worldbuilder on the actual-play podcast and video series Sagas of Sundry: Goblin Mode.

Amy didn't figure out what she wanted to be when she grew up until she was a grown up. She started her writing career with a blog she created to hold all her fangirl enthusiasm about Star Wars: The Clone Wars (if you have time to spare, ask her about Ahsoka Tano), fictional alcoholic beverages—those kind of things. She found her passion. Eventually, Amy took on paid writing assignments for publications such as IGN, StarWars.com, LA Times, Fashionably Geek, Comic Book Resources, Orbitz, and Nerdist (where she went on to become Editor in Chief).

Amy lives in Asheville, North Carolina with her husband, cats, and the many birds that visit their backyard. She loves to eat a sandwich in nature.
